The beauty of the camino is that you can follow a set itinerary or create your own adventure! Some people have tight timeframes to follow and therefore can’t be as lenient with their stages and others decide to listen to their bodies and stop at whatever town they end up in at the end of the day. There’s no right way to walk the Camino, it’s about what works for you.
I started off with the intention of following my guidebook stages and pre-booking all my accommodation a day or two in advance. What I quickly realised was that I wasn’t listening to my body and I was walking longer and faster than I should have been considering the weight on my back. My mindset shifted about halfway through the camino after meeting a great group of friends. I started to go with the flow and listen to my body and mind about where to stop for the day.

If you want to keep walking after Santiago, you could finish at the historical end of the Camino, Finisterre, which is a little town next to the Atlantic Ocean. Finisterre literally means the end of the world and once you arrive you understand why. It’s a town of wandering souls, content locals and pilgrims coming to terms with the end of a life changing experience.
